Irish Couldn't Fight Their Way Out of a Plastic Bag

I know that kind of title will make them fighting mad, too!

"Ireland to double tax on plastic store bags" by Associated Press | September 25, 2009

DUBLIN - Ireland was the first nation to tax plastic bags as a way to stop people from littering the countryside with them.

You don't recycle?

Now the Emerald Isle will double its levy to a punitive 59 cents per bag. The 7-year-old policy has already generated more than $175 million....

Do you feel as if the MSM here is trying to say it's a good idea? I do.

The Department of the Environment announced yesterday that the charge will be doubled to ensure a “sufficient deterrent’’ to shoppers who arrive at checkout counters with no shopping bags of their own.

What about the guys making the bags? Gonna put them out of work?

Plastic or paper, sir?

Oh, paper, please!

Try getting out of that one, Irishman.
