How to Make the Stimulus a Success

"Some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two, three, four, or even more times. The government has overstated by thousands the number of jobs it has created or saved.... under the president’s $787 billion recovery program"

Well, that will do it.

Translation: THE GOVERNMENT LIES!!!

"Job count flawed in report on stimulus; Analysis raises new questions" by Brett J. Blackledge and Matt Apuzzo, Associated Press | October 29, 2009

WASHINGTON - A Colorado company said it created 4,231 jobs with the help of President Obama’s economic recovery plan. The real number: fewer than 1,000.

A child care center in Florida said it saved 129 jobs with stimulus money. Instead, it gave pay raises to its existing employees. Elsewhere, some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two, three, four, or even more times. The government has overstated by thousands the number of jobs it has created or saved with federal contracts under the president’s $787 billion recovery program, according to an Associated Press review of data released in the program’s first progress report.

Hate to say I told you so, but....

Stimulus Was Stolen

Stimulating Sophistry

The discrepancy raises questions about the reliability of a key benchmark the administration uses to gauge the success of the stimulus. The errors could be magnified tomorrow when a much larger round of reports is released. It is expected to show hundreds of thousands of jobs repairing housing, building schools, repaving highways, and keeping teachers on payrolls. The White House seized on an initial report from a government oversight board weeks ago that claimed federal contracts awarded to businesses under the recovery plan already had helped pay for more than 30,000 jobs. The administration said the number was evidence that the stimulus program had exceeded early expectations.

They would grasp a sword to keep from drowning in their own deceit.

But the 30,000 figure is overstated by thousands - at the very least by nearly 5,000, based on AP’s limited review - because some federal agencies and recipients of the money provided incorrect job counts....

There’s no evidence the White House sought to inflate job numbers in the report.

And the MSM wouldn't call them on it even if they did!

Ed DeSeve, an Obama adviser helping to oversee the stimulus program, said federal officials had only a few days to go through the data for errors before they were made public.

I'm SICK of EXCUSES!!

The BANK BAILOUT went out LICKETY-SPLIT!

And LOOK at what the STATE'S LEAD LIAR was CROWING ABOUT!

Governor Deval Patrick said yesterday that Massachusetts had created or retained 23,533 jobs as a result of spending $1.9 billion in federal stimulus money over the past eight months, an announcement that precedes what is expected to be a dire set of budget cuts to be outlined by the governor this afternoon.

So HOW MANY of those are DOUBLED UP or TRIPLED UP?

“In Massachusetts, the recovery act is working,’’ Patrick said at a press conference in his State House office, surrounded by labor union officials, state lawmakers, and Cabinet members....

What drug is he taking?

Patrick is planning to announce a series of budget reductions this afternoon in Worcester. The current budget gap, created by revenue shortfalls greater than state officials predicted when they approved this fiscal year’s budget this summer, is estimated to be about $600 million. The governor plans to close that gap by cutting state jobs and programs and could also propose cuts to local aid. The governor gave no hint yesterday of what would be cut, and he sought instead to focus on the jobs created by the stimulus bill....

These POLITICAL INSULTS are not winning him any points out here!

The 23,533 individual jobs created or retained amount to 8,792 full-time positions, according to the administration’s calculations.

What?

The positions are overwhelmingly those of teachers, Patrick said, but they include firefighters, police officers, and construction workers. In addition, the Patrick administration estimates that there have been 11,767 jobs indirectly created or retained by the infusion of federal dollars.

That STILL DOESN'T ADD UP!!

To calculate indirect jobs - the pizza shop that hires more workers, for example, when a large construction site opens nearby - the state used a multiplier of 1.5, meaning three new pizza shop jobs for every two construction site jobs.

Translation: The MEASUREMENTS are BULLSHIT!!!!!

It is ALL GUESSTIMATES or LIES, readers!!!!!

Good God!!!!!!!!

The job figures are reflected in the first of a series of quarterly reports that states are required to file with the federal government by tomorrow. In all, Massachusetts expects to receive $14 billion in federal stimulus funds....

I consider it stolen tax loot and I'd like to give it back.

The $787 billion stimulus project, approved by Congress in February, has been attacked by opponents as not providing the desired effect of easing the country’s dour financial picture or cutting the unemployment rate. In Massachusetts, where the unemployment rate is the highest it has been in decades, Patrick has been criticized for the slow pace of stimulus spending. Last month, a powerful congressman publicly chided Patrick for not spending more swiftly nearly a half-billion dollars in transportation funding....

Still....

Jennifer Nassour, chairwoman of the Massachusetts Republican Party, in a statement, called yesterday’s report:

One more example of the Patrick-Murray administration’s use of smoke and mirrors to mask the Democrats’ costly $787 billion stimulus bill. The reality for many citizens in the Commonwealth whose jobs have not been ‘retained’ is that they join the 32,000 people in our state who have become unemployed since President Obama signed the stimulus package.’’

Earlier this year, the Obama administration estimated that the stimulus bill would save or create 79,000 jobs in Massachusetts over the next two years. Yesterday, administration officials said they hope to exceed that estimate and are on pace to do so.

They just can't help but lie, can they?

“There’s a lot more work to do, but this program has been an absolute success,’’ said state Representative David Linsky, a Natick Democrat and the chairman of the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight. “The single most valuable commodity right now in Massachusetts is a job.’’

CALL a MEETING!!!

"Economic summit calls for state fund to aid small businesses; Plans sought to tap into public, private resources" by Robert Gavin, Globe Staff | October 28, 2009

The state should create a fund to provide small businesses with the capital they need to grow and create jobs, according to participants in Governor Deval Patrick’s economic summit yesterday.

Well, WHERE YA BEEN?!!!!

And maybe the state should GET OFF the TAX TEAT and LEAVE THE $$$$ with the PEOPLE!

Please see State Government On Probation (and related links within, thank you).

Although its unclear how large the fund might be, it could aggregate money from a variety of public and private sources, including federal stimulus grants, state development agencies, the US Small Business Administration, and banks, said Ronald L. Walker II, president of the merchant bank Next Street Financial LLC of Boston. Walker led a working group on capital during the summit.

Yeah, HOW CAN WE HELP BANKS put MORE PEOPLE INTO DEBT!

That's what this "meeting" was!

Many small businesses have had difficulty getting loans as banks tightened credit during the recession.

So WHAT HAPPENED to the TRILLIONS in LOAN LIQUIDITY the FED DOLED OUT? Just disappeared into bankster pockets, 'eh?

Helping them to get financing was among the issues discussed at the summit, which brought together state officials, economists, and business and civic leaders. With signs that the economy has begun a turnaround, the idea behind the summit was....

I'm sick of lies and the lying liars of the MSM that repeat them verbatim!

Patrick aide: State plans to cut at least 1,000 jobs

At least 1,000 state jobs will be cut and another 1,000 are in jeopardy....

That's destructive creativity.
