"Israel to ease limits on aid going to Gaza; Policy shift would not lift naval blockade" by Isabel Kershner, New York Times | June 18, 2010

I'm already not liking the angle.

See:
How Israeli propaganda shaped U.S. media coverage of the flotilla attack

Israel's Defense Attorneys

The Tough Guys of the AmeriKan MSM

I no longer trust the source, and never will again.

JERUSALEM — Under intense international pressure after its commandos killed nine activists aboard an aid flotilla trying to breach its blockade of Gaza last month, Israel yesterday announced what it called “adjustments’’ in its policy, promising to ease the entry of civilian goods by land while maintaining its naval blockade.... and to expand the inflow of construction materials for civilian projects under international supervision.

Why should the Palestinians be subjected to monitors?

And read a few more paragraphs. Turns out nothing at all is changing; this is just Israel PR, and if the blogs are correct, Nutinyahoo is tightening the thing.

Until now, Israel has largely blocked construction materials from entering Gaza, arguing that the militant Islamic group Hamas, which controls the Palestinian territory, could use those materials to build bunkers and rockets. The ban severely hampered reconstruction efforts after Israel’s three-week military campaign in Gaza, which began in late December 2008, after years of rocket fire against Israel.

How many more lies can they tell in service to Israel, huh??

SIGH!!

Recently, Israel had started to allow in limited building supplies for projects supervised by the United Nations or foreign governments.

Wait a minute, readers; NYT bulls*** starting to get thick.

A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the issue, said yesterday’s decision meant there would no longer be any restrictions on foodstuffs going into Gaza, though not in commercial quantities. He added that there might also be a degree of relaxation for products required by the private sector there.

Also see: Israel Is Just Plain Mean

Yeah, that's why no one likes them.

But the government statement offered no retreat on other aspects of the three-year-old blockade, including restrictions on the passage of people in and out of Gaza, exports, or the importation of raw materials for the enclave’s largely paralyzed industries.

Translation: NOTHING has CHANGED!!!

This WHOLE EXERCISE of a news article is an attempt ISRAELI PR!!!

And officials insisted yesterday that the naval blockade had to remain in place to prevent the smuggling of weapons and other war materiel.

The European Union’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Catherine Ashton, said she looked “with great interest’’ at the Israeli announcement....

I'm sick of EU and UN pussies.

There have been suggestions of new arrangements at the land crossings into Gaza, possibly with some international involvement and a role for the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, whose power is currently limited to the West Bank.

And the ELECTED GOVERNMENT?

Israel said it would “decide....

Why not? They always do.

Although Israeli officials insisted the policy was under review even before the flotilla episode, they said there would be no normal commercial activity in Gaza unless Hamas fundamentally changed....

How about that ZIONIST TERROR STATE CHANGING?

How about that, huh?

Organizers of the flotilla have vowed to maintain pressure on Israel until it lifts the naval blockade, and they are making plans for a new, multiship flotilla in mid-July.

Good!

Israeli sanctions began in 2006, after Hamas won Palestinian legislative elections then led a cross-border raid and captured an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit.

Oh, ONCE AGAIN the TRUTH SLIPS OUT!

A strict Israeli embargo has been in place, with Egypt’s help, since Hamas took full control of the territory in 2007. Amid public outrage over the flotilla deaths, Egypt recently opened its own border crossing with Gaza for passenger traffic.

"Israel eases blockade, to allow nonmilitary goods into Gaza" by Mark Lavie, Associated Press | June 21, 2010

JERUSALEM — Israel pledged yesterday that it will immediately allow all goods into Gaza except weapons and items deemed to have a military use under its decision to ease its three-year-old blockade of the Palestinian territory.

That is worth the air that was expelled saying it and not much more.

The list of banned goods replaces an old list of allowed items that permitted only basic humanitarian supplies for the 1.5 million Gazans. Under the new system, the government said practically all nonmilitary items can enter Gaza freely....

In a critical shift, Israel said it would allow construction materials into Gaza for projects approved by the Palestinian Authority, such as housing and schools, as long as the projects are under international supervision....

SCREW THAT!!! I want the BORDERS FLUNG OPEN and let the GAZANS HANDLE IT!

Construction materials are a critical need in Gaza. Thousands of buildings were destroyed or damaged in Israel’s military operation in Gaza a year and a half ago, aimed at stopping years of daily rocket attacks by Gaza militants.

Don't you love the little lie at the end there?

Yeah, NO WORLD GOVERNMENT BARKING at the WAR CRIMINAL SIEGE!

Because of the blockade, little repair or rebuilding has been done since the war ended.

The list of banned items was not released yesterday, but the government said it will be published.

WTF?

A Hamas Cabinet minister, Ziad al-Zaza, rejected Israel’s decision, calling it “deception.’’ He said the blockade must be lifted completely “to allow Gaza to import all necessary materials, particularly cement, iron, raw materials for industry and agriculture, as well as import and export between Gaza and the world.’’

AGREED!!! This has gone on WAY TOO LONG!!

Chris Gunness, spokesman for UNRWA, the UN agency that aids Palestinian refugees, agreed. “We need deeds on the ground, not words,’’ he told the Associated Press. “We have to see the blockade lifted, because the blockade is illegal.’’

**************

Israel imposed the blockade after Hamas overran the Gaza Strip....

I just wanted you to see the lie.

Israel is maintaining its sea blockade of Gaza. Israel fears that without searching incoming ships, Hamas could receive unlimited shipments of missiles and other weapons.

Well, WE ARE TIRED of ISRAELI LIES!

And did they have to MURDER PEOPLE over it?

"Another aid ship set to sail for Gaza; Cyprus is first stop, group says" by Zeina Karam, Associated Press | June 22, 2010

BEIRUT — Another blockade-busting ship with activists and aid on board could embark within days on a new attempt to reach Gaza after Lebanese authorities granted permission yesterday for it to sail first to Cyprus.

Israeli navy commandos raided a blockade-busting international flotilla bound for Gaza on May 31, killing nine pro-Palestinian activists. An international outcry over the raid pressured Israel to ease its three-year-old blockade of the territory....

Were the Haiti aid workers pro-Haiti?

The implication is they are anti-Israel, right?

Yeah, I am sick of the AmeriKan MSM behaving like Israel's public defender.

Israel imposed the blockade after Hamas militants overran Gaza in 2007....

What are we to think, dear readers?

Lebanon’s transport minister, Ghazi Aridi, said the ship is now docked at the northern Lebanese port of Tripoli and can set sail once it is cleared by port authorities there. He said it would be allowed to sail to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and not directly to Gaza because Lebanon and Israel are technically in a state of war, and Lebanon views Gaza as Israeli-controlled.

The Cypriot government last month banned any vessel setting sail to Gaza from Cypriot shores. But the activists could skirt the ban by sailing to a port in the breakaway Turkish Cypriot north of the island, outside the effective control of the internationally recognized, Greek Cypriot-dominated government in the south.

Turkey was the unofficial sponsor of the flotilla in May, and all of those killed in the clash were Turkish.

And ONE was an AMERICAN, don't forget that AMERIKAN MSM!

In Cyprus, Stefanos Stefanou, government spokesman, said authorities have not received official word that a Gaza-bound ship is planning to sail from Lebanon and the organizers did not say which port in Cyprus to which they planned to sail....

I also view the MSM confusion as an Israeli smokescreen.

"Parents fight for son held in Gaza; Israel abandoned him, they say" by Aron Heller, Associated Press | June 24, 2010

Related: The Shalit Shell Game

Nice spin, huh?

Israel sure didn't seem concerned about him when they were flattening buildings and dropping WMD on the place.

JERUSALEM — The Schalits will join thousands of supporters, including international supermodel Bar Refaeli, on a cross-country march next week. They also have pledged to camp outside the prime minister’s home until they see their son again.

The saga has left Israelis torn between empathy for the anguished family and a realization that four years of pressure on Hamas have failed.

Israel began its blockade of Gaza immediately after militants captured Schalit in a cross-border raid into Israel on June 25, 2006.

Related: THE TWO ISRAELI SOLDIERS WERE CAPTURED IN LEBANON

Why should we believe now?

It tightened the closure even further after Hamas militants violently seized control of Gaza a year later.

And CUI BONO (with a lie on top, readers)?

But the outcry over the flotilla raid led Netanyahu to announce this week that Israel would allow most goods, except for weapons and weapons-related materials, into the coastal strip.

Little is known about Schalit’s condition. His captors have barred any access to him, despite repeated requests from the Red Cross, and have released only a brief videotaped statement last year to prove he was still alive.

Hey, USrael doesn't allow them to see their tortured prisoners either.

Israeli security officials say Hamas often moves Schalit between locations, keeping his whereabouts tightly under wraps. Israel believes that the soldier is booby-trapped and any attempt to free him would result in his death and that of his potential rescuers....

That is just their excuse for not saving him.

Netanyahu’s options appear limited. Military officials believe a rescue operation would be impossible, and German-mediated talks for a prisoner swap with Hamas have repeatedly stalled.

Ever noticed that always happens when dealing with Israel?

Hamas wants the release of some 1,000 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, including militants held for deadly attacks.

And some ELECTED POLITICIANS!!!

Of course, ONE JEWISH BOY is MORE IMPORTANT to the AmeriKan MSM.

Israel’s Shin Bet security service has warned that convicted Palestinians would probably resume their attacks against Israelis if released.

Good way to keep 'em locked up then, huh?

Such fears have deterred both Netanyahu and his predecessor, Ehud Olmert, from closing a deal that could be perceived as a boost for Hamas.

The plight of the quiet, gangly soldier has touched the hearts of many in Israel, where military service is compulsory.

You can stop the boot-licking now, MSM.

Israeli newspapers have joined the family’s campaign, endorsing the cross-country march and handing out yellow ribbons to wear to support the Schalits....

Is there ANYTHING Israelis WILL NOT STEAL?

CARACAS — President Hugo Chávez denounced Israel yesterday as a “genocidal’’ government as he hosted President Bashar Assad of Syria on his first visit to Latin America.

Chávez has drawn close to Syria and Iran, and cut ties with Israel last year to protest its military offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Assad called Israel a state “based on crime, slaughter.’’
