Senate Can't Get Work Done

And here you have none to do, American.

Why don't you treat
them the same way come November?

"Fears of election-year deficit stall Obama’s stimulus plan; So far, Congress has OK’d a fourth of $266b sought" by Lori Montgomery, Washington Post | June 19, 2010

WASHINGTON — Barely a week after President Obama tried to reenergize his push for more spending on the economy, his agenda is stalled on Capitol Hill, mired in election-year anxiety about the deficit....

Yeah, I love how PARTISANSHIP RAISES its ugly head when it is SOMETHING YOU WANT or NEED, American.

Even the state aid that Obama last week called critical to preventing the layoffs of hundreds of thousands of teachers and other government workers is floundering.

Then the STIMULOOT FAILED and there NEVER WAS a RECOVERY, just a BORROWED BINGE of a SUGAR RUSH!!

After days of talks, frustrated Democratic leaders in the Senate failed again Thursday to muster the 60 votes needed to approve the cash and left town for the weekend.

Yeah, now 60 means something. Filibuster: What the political parties use as a crutch to explain why they do not pass what you want, America.

If Congress doesn’t provide additional stimulus spending, economists inside and outside the administration warn that the nation risks a prolonged period of high unemployment or, more frightening, a descent back into recession.

As planned by the global masters who were supposed to fix it after doing it before.

But a competing threat — the exploding federal budget deficit — seems to be resonating more powerfully in Congress and among voters.

So you do not get any more unemployment, America.

Which is interesting because we have $32.2 million for a refugee crisis in Krygyzstan the CIA created and $500 million for elite hospitals in Pakistan.

Want to solve the deficit?

END the WARS!

Whether Obama’s directive to spend more now and tackle the deficit later — which he laid out in a letter to congressional leaders last week — is the right economic medicine, some lawmakers say that outside the Beltway it sounds like political doublespeak.

What if the empire doesn't have a later because of the sinking swelling of debt?

Polls show most people don’t believe Obama’s first stimulus package worked, and they are sending mixed signals about whether Washington should spend more on jobs or start minding the national debt.

That is because JOBS continued to be SHED!

It was TOSSED AWAY TAX LOOT with all sorts of fancy definitions for a job.

Administration officials are forging ahead, theorizing that voters would be even angrier if Washington skipped the additional spending and unemployment began to climb again.

It's okay for them to "theorize?"

The White House is also trying to do a better job of selling the original $862 billion stimulus package, enacted last year and praised by many economists....

Whenever they do that the polls drop.

After the Gulf and all the other lies the government has no cred.

The debate over whether the United States and other developed countries can afford anymore stimulus spending has taken on greater urgency, especially as the threat of national default in Greece has fueled global fears about the health of countries with outsize deficits.

That is when I reach for my back pocket.

In recent weeks, the administration has focused on freezing what it calls unnecessary spending, targeting fraud and eliminating wasteful programs. Obama also has a special commission at work on reducing deficits over the long term.

The poor economy was a huge contributor to last year’s $1.4 trillion budget deficit. Tax collections plummeted and spending on the poor and the jobless soared....

Aaaah, pfffft!

I'm tired of the MSM acting like a public defender for the government and selected interests and industries.

"Filibuster halts bill boosting jobless benefits, aid to states" by Lori Montgomery, Washington Post | June 25, 2010

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats yesterday abandoned efforts to provide more assistance to state governments and extend emergency unemployment benefits for millions of jobless workers, leaving in limbo President Obama’s push for more spending to bolster the economy.

They ABANDONED YOU, American people -- and THEN WENT on HOLIDAY!

The decision came after the Senate failed again to muster 60 votes to advance a package of tax cuts and emergency economic provisions. Senator Ben Nelson, a Nebraska Democrat, joined a united Republican caucus in voting to block the measure, citing concern that even the latest slimmed-down version would expand bloated budget deficits. The package fell short, 57-41.

Senate majority leader Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, blamed Republican intransigence....

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, blamed Democrats....

For Massachusetts, the vote could have widespread consequences. Emergency jobless benefits, which provide up to 99 weeks of support, expired June 2.

And THAT'S IT!

Yup, Senate GOT TOUGH and DREW a LINE!

About 30,000 laid-off workers in Massachusetts have already lost benefits; up to 100,000 would eventually be affected.

I never got a damn dime because I quit; just burned down my savings.

The bill also would have supplied a $16 billion boost in Medicaid funding for states, which would mean about $500 million for Massachusetts, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. That figure is lower than an earlier proposal, which would have supplied a $24 billion boost, or $760 million for Massachusetts.

Governor Deval Patrick and state legislative leaders had expected that money in their budget projections. Without the federal help, the Massachusetts House and Senate passed a stripped-down budget last night that cuts aid to communities.

And the feds are screwing the states, with you-know-who screwing us all.

The US Senate version also had funds for summer jobs programs, a program championed by Senator John F. Kerry.

“This is one of the worst moments I’ve seen in 25 years in the United States Senate,’’ the Massachusetts Democrat said after the vote.

And that is SEEING a LOT of WORST MOMENTS like the PATRIOT ACT and the IRAQ WAR!

And how come you COULDN'T BRING HOME the bacon, senator?

Yeah, he's getting it down for you, Massachusetts.

And this is with a DEMOCRAT MAJORITY and PRESIDENT!

Imagine if REPUGS CLOSE the GAP or TAKE CONTROL!

Other senior Democrats said they are likely to try again to attract GOP support for the measure, which Obama has called critical to propping up the nation’s still-fragile economic recovery. But after four months of talks, frustrated senior Democrats said they would probably delay further action.

Well, you CAN'T DO BOTH!

“People are in the mood of letting the dust settle before finding the next step,’’ said Senate Budget Committee chairman Kent Conrad of North Dakota.

And that guy or gal no longer getting the check?

Maybe you could eat dust, American, because bankers, war-looters, politicians, favored corporations, and Israel feast on your tax loot. All you are left with is a turd in the bag of borrowed debt.

The legislation would have increased budget deficits by $33 billion over the next decade.

Unreal!

That's CHUMP CHANGE in the SEA of RED INK!

Meanwhile, the Department of War gets $700 BILLION!

The US House did pass a bill yesterday that spares doctors a 21 percent cut in Medicare payments. The measure, already passed by the Senate, would delay cuts six months while lawmakers work on a permanent solution. The bill goes to Obama for his signature.

Oh, so they TOOK CARE of DOCTORS and INSURANCE COMPANIES, huh?
