AmeriKan Navy Runs Aground in Afghanistan

What are Naval Intelligence Officers doing in LAND-LOCKED Afghanistan, huh?

"the two left their compound in Kabul in civilian clothes and a civilian vehicle"

Maybe they were even CIA, who knows?

"US toll in Afghan fighting mounts; 56 killed in month; 2 believed taken by Taliban forces" by Deb Riechmann, Associated Press | July 25, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — Two US Navy personnel disappeared in a dangerous area of eastern Afghanistan, and the Taliban claimed to have captured them, NATO and Afghan officials said yesterday. Elsewhere, five US service members died in separate bombings in the south, bringing to 56 the number of Americans killed so far this month.

The latest US casualties put July on course to become the deadliest month for Americans since the start of the nearly nine-year war. Sixty Americans were killed in Afghanistan in June, as US and international forces step up operations against the Taliban in the south.

Rising American casualties are eroding support for the war even as President Obama has sent thousands of reinforcements to try to turn back the Taliban, who would have a potent propaganda tool with the capture of two US troops.

I'm sorry, readers, I'm sick of this s*** journalism from a pot-hollering Zionist kettle!

Btw, world, support for the war has eroded to near nil (save for the servants in Washington) despite the MSM propaganda.

The disappearance of the Navy crew members prompted a massive search. The coalition began radio broadcasts offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to their return.

YOUR TAX DOLLARS, America!

Are ALL the LIES WORTH IT!!!??

NATO said the two left their compound in Kabul in civilian clothes and a civilian vehicle Friday afternoon.

And KEEP READING to see how that is COVERED UP and CHANGED, dear readers!

They were last seen in the Charkh district of Logar Province, said Samer Gul, district chief.

A NATO official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of search operations, confirmed the two were Navy personnel, but would not identify them or their unit to avoid jeopardizing the search.

The official said it was unclear what the two were doing. He would not say whether they were on official business....

Assassins?

Special forces?

A Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, called Afghan reporters in Logar yesterday and told them that the militant movement had captured the two Americans and killed one of them, according to an Afghan reporter and the governor’s spokesman....

The five US troops were killed yesterday in bomb attacks in southern Afghanistan. Four of the troops died in one bomb blast, and one was killed in a separate attack, NATO officials said.

The deaths pushed NATO’s death toll in July to 75 troops, including the 56 Americans. Last month was the deadliest of the war for NATO troops, with more than 100 killed, including 60 Americans.

US commanders attribute the growing violence to the push into Taliban strongholds where the coalition previously had a minimal presence. Others say that the Taliban has grown stronger by the year and that it now controls wide swaths of the country.

Kidnappings of US troops in Afghanistan are rare.

The only US service member known to be in Taliban captivity is Specialist Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, who disappeared June 30, 2009, in neighboring Paktika Province, an area heavily infiltrated by the Haqqani network, which has deep links to Al Qaeda. He has since appeared on videos posted on Taliban websites confirming his captivity.

Oh, no the HAQQANI NETWORK AGAIN!

Can you say CIA PSY-OP, folks!!?

"Haqqani.... credited with introducing suicide bombing to the region.... cultivated as a "unilateral" asset of the CIA and received tens of thousands of dollars in cash for his work.... He may have had a role in expediting the escape of Osama Bin Laden.... In July 2008, CIA officials confronted Pakistan officials with evidence of ties between Inter-Services Intelligence and Haqqani. Haqqani has been accused of involvement in the 2008 Indian embassy bombing in Kabul...."

Can this "report" get any more RIDICULOUS?

New York Times reporter David Rhode was also kidnapped in Logar Province while trying to make contact with a Taliban commander. He and an Afghan colleague escaped in June 2009 after seven months in captivity.....

And lived to write a book about it, huh?

Yeah, I thought I was smelling something.

Yesterday in the same district in Logar, the manager of an Afghan construction company and his driver were kidnapped, according to Darwish....

But who cares about them?

"Taliban say one sailor is dead, 2d is held in Afghanistan; Massive search launched by US" by Joshua Partlow, Washington Post | July 26, 2010

I just like the reader to be aware of what they are getting.

KABUL, Afghanistan — One US Navy service member was killed in a shootout with Taliban fighters in the eastern Afghan province of Logar and another is in insurgent custody, a Taliban spokesman and Afghan officials said yesterday.

NATO officials have not confirmed the reports and still characterize the two men as missing since they drove off from their Kabul base Friday.

On the second full day of a search for the missing Americans, Afghan officials said US forces have deployed from helicopters, set up vehicle checkpoints, and were going house to house in Logar. Afghan army officials said they have two battalions involved in the search; US military officials did not specify the size of their search operation....

The radical Islamist Taliban movement has stepped up attacks this year, raising the violence level in Afghanistan to its highest point in the war.

Yeah, as if the U.S. hasn't with its surge and as if the U.S. never kills people.

F*** you, s*** MSM!

A senior US military official said the Taliban on Saturday seized the center of Barg-e-Matal district in Nurestan province, a remote mountainous area from where US troops have withdrawn to focus on more populated areas.

Isn't that a LOSS then?

And why can't we withdrawal from the whole country, huh?

NATO said yesterday that Afghan army commandos, along with US Special Forces troops, killed a “large group of insurgent fighters’’ near Awlagul village, which is in the same district.

Back to the VAGUE BODY COUNTS, I see.

Yeah, we're winning!!!!

Afghan police and army commanders in Logar said in telephone interviews that US troops have recovered the body of one of the sailors and are searching cars and houses for the surviving one.

The commander of an Afghan battalion in Logar said US troops distributed photographs of the two men in the province and a number to call for information. He said the men were white and appeared to be more than 40 years old.

That SURE SMELLS like INTELLIGENCE WORK to ME!!!

Afghan officials and a Taliban spokesman known as Zabiullah Mujahid said the two Americans were passing through Charkh district in an armored sport-utility vehicle on Friday evening when they were stopped by Taliban fighters.

I was told it was a CIVILIAN VEHICLE!

“We wanted to arrest them alive. But they showed resistance. And the mujaheddin fired back,’’ Mujahid said. “We still have one of them with us.’’

About 15 insurgents were involved in the attack, Mujahid said. They fired Kalashnikov rifles and later torched the vehicle, he said.

Samer Gul Rashid, the Charkh district chief, said that United States and Afghan forces found the body of one of the sailors in a garden and that American troops have the body. He added that the surviving American was slightly injured in the hand; Mujahid denied that the sailor was hurt....

The first hours and days of any rescue operation are the most critical, as insurgents tend to move prisoners rapidly, often to sanctuaries across Pakistan’s border....

Why, do they have a SECRET BLACK SITE TORTURE CHAMBER there like the CIA?

Never mind the fact that this "report" is PURE SPECULATION (or something else, if you know what I mean)!

There have been conflicting reports about the circumstances.

That is USUALLY WHAT HAPPENS when LIES are TOLD!

Initial news reports said the Taliban wanted a prisoner exchange; some officials, such as Logar police chief General Ghulam Mustafa Mohseni, believe this is still the case. Other provincial officials maintain that the Taliban have made no demands.... Bold

Then again, beware of the MSM when they lock in march step on anything (9/11).

Yeah, pass that salt shaker over here. I need a few grains to get through the rest of this post.

The only other US service member known to be in Taliban captivity is Specialist Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho.

Bergdahl disappeared June 30, 2009, in Paktika province, also in eastern Afghanistan. That area is heavily infiltrated by the Haqqani network, which has deep links to Al Qaeda. He has since appeared on videos posted on Taliban websites confirming his captivity.

Gee, these Haqqani guys are all over the place!

New York Times reporter David Rohde was also kidnapped in Logar province while trying to make contact with a Taliban commander. He and an Afghan colleague escaped in June 2009 after seven months in captivity, most of it spent in Taliban sanctuaries in Pakistan.

Wow, a deja vu of dog s***.

"Sailor who vanished from eastern Afghan province is dead; Taliban claim they captured the other missing instructor" by Heidi Vogt, Associated Press | July 28, 2010

KABUL, Afghanistan — One of two US sailors missing in Afghanistan since last week — a 30-year-old father of two — has been confirmed dead and his body recovered, a NATO spokesman said yesterday.

The search continues for the other missing sailor.....

The two Navy personnel went missing Friday in the eastern province of Logar after their armored sport utility vehicle was seen driving into a Taliban-held area. The Taliban have said it killed one of the two men in a firefight, captured the other, and are holding him in a “safe place.’’

*********

NATO officials were unable to say what the two service members were doing in such a dangerous part of eastern Afghanistan.

They don't have to.

The sailors were instructors at a counterinsurgency school for Afghan security forces, according to senior military officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case....

Yup, SPIES!

The only confirmed American service member in Taliban captivity is Specialist Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, who disappeared June 30, 2009, in Paktika Province. Bergdahl has since been shown in Taliban videos online.

Whatever happened to him, anyway?

Is he enjoying the CIA-sponsored hotel room?
