Boston Globe Oil Bath

I think I'll just stay squeaky.

This issue above all others marked the final death knell for AmeriKa's corporate media. If they will lie about this, they would (and do) lie about anything.

"US agency orders plugging of idle oil, gas wells in gulf" by Harry R. Weber and Matthew Daly, Associated Press | September 16, 2010

KENNER, La. — The Obama administration moved to head off another catastrophic leak like the BP disaster yesterday, ordering oil and gas companies in the Gulf of Mexico to plug or dismantle nearly 3,500 wells and platforms no longer in use....

The threat posed by the wells was detailed this summer in an Associated Press investigation. The gulf has more than 27,000 abandoned oil and gas wells and more than 1,200 idle rigs and platforms, and the AP found that many of the wells have been ignored for decades.

Michael Bromwich, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, said the Obama administration crackdown was under consideration long before the Deepwater Horizon explosion....

Yeah, sure.

Randall Luthi, president of the National Ocean Industries Association, an offshore drilling group, welcomed the new order, which he said had been in the works for at least two years.

Luthi is a former head of the Minerals Management Service, the agency that oversaw offshore drilling before it was overhauled and renamed as a result of the BP disaster.

He said the Obama administration “must also assist in clearing the path so such operations can be done quickly, smoothly, and in an environmentally responsible manner.’’

And whatever is best for the oil industry.

Meanwhile, retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the government official overseeing the crisis, said the relief well BP has been drilling all summer long should intersect the ruptured well within 24 hours. He said mud and cement will then be pumped in, sealing the hole once and for all by Sunday.

Yeah, whatever.

They have told so many lies and omitted so much why do they think I would believe them anymore?

"Gas may have primed oil-eating bacteria" by Associated Press | September 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — Those oil-eating bacteria that suddenly flourished in the Gulf of Mexico following the BP oil leak might have gotten a jump-start from natural gas, scientists say.

Well, I sure am smelling something!

Related: Globe Endorses Government on Evaporated Oil From Gulf Gusher

Never saw that retraction in print.

The destruction of the Deepwater Horizon well resulted in the release of natural gases such as propane and ethane, in addition to the millions of gallons of oil, researchers noted in yesterday’s online edition of the journal Science.

Another discredited magazine.

In shallow water, the gas would bubble up and escape into the air, but because the well was so deep the high pressure caused the gases to rise slowly and some dissolved into the water.

Bacteria that eat hydrocarbons began ingesting those gases, which could have primed them to become more active and attack the more complex oil released into the water, according to a team led by David L. Valentine of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Yeah, COULD HAVE, MAY HAVE, PFFFFFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you know my grandmother COULD HAVE been a BICYCLE if she HAD WHEELS?!!

Their report is based on deep-water samples taken at 31 locations around the gulf between June 11 and 21, and do not reflect the current state of the gulf oil disaster.

Translation: It's all MSM and government bulls***!!!

Yeah, Globe never corrected the record in print so I no longer trust one word from the PoS.

And having gone this far why stop with the lies?

"Drilling job loss minimal, US says; La. lawmakers dispute report on gulf moratorium" by Erica Werner and Matthew Daly, Associated Press | September 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — The deep-water drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico has not increased unemployment in the region, says a new report from the Obama administration that was immediately disputed by Louisiana lawmakers....

They REALLY THINK YOU WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING!!

Or maybe they JUST DON'T CARE! Put the PILE of SHIT OUT THERE and let it STINK!!

What a DISAPPOINTMENT this "change" administration has become!!!!!!!!

The scenario is far rosier than described in some earlier reports....

Translation: it is a DAMN LIE like every word from this administration!!!!!

The new report said other surveys, including the one by Interior, measured worst-case scenarios that never came to pass.

Says your lying, agenda-pushing, manipulative government!

"Cement flows to plug BP well for good; Gulf residents face tough times as oil washes up" by Harry R. Weber, Associated Press | September 18, 2010

This after they told you they did it in July.

Of course, you have forgotten about that by now, 'murkn!

NEW ORLEANS — Gulf residents will be feeling the pain for years to come. There is still plenty of oil in the water, and some continues to wash up on shore.

Gee, I WAS TOLD it darn near DISAPPEARED!!!

Arrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many people are still struggling to make ends meet with some waters still closed to fishing.

Shrimpers who are allowed to fish are finding it difficult to sell their catch because of the perceptionlargely from people outside the region — that the seafood is not safe to eat.

Then YOU GO DOWN THERE and FEAST to your FATTED CONTENT, MSM!!!!

"BP well plugged, but gulf residents still grapple with effects" by Harry R. Weber, Associated Press | September 19, 2010

ON THE GULF OF MEXICO — The final plugging of BP’s blown-out oil well brings one piece of the catastrophe that began five months ago to an anticlimactic end. After all, the gusher was temporarily capped in July.

What do you mean it is not over?

But it was an important milestone for the still-weary residents of the Gulf Coast — an assurance that not so much as a trickle of oil will ever seep from the well that already has ruined so much.

I'm so sick of symbolic s*** passing as news!!

The disaster began April 20, when an explosion killed 11 workers, sank a drilling rig, and led to the worst offshore oil spill in US history....

You know, the worst-case scenario that never came to pass.

People who rely on the Gulf of Mexico and its coastline for their livelihoods, though, know the disaster is far from over. They are left to rebuild amid the businesses destroyed by shorelines and fishing grounds that were tainted by crude.

As if the area is not tainted by crude anymore. This kind of s*** journalism is the reason AmeriKa's newspapers are nearly dead. Who wants to read such deceptive and distorted s***?

Even where the seafood is safe, fishermen struggle to sell it to consumers who fear that it’s toxic.

Yeah, it is your fault for not wanting to eat poison the government i$ good for you.

News that the well would soon be declared dead brought little comfort to people such as Sheryl Lindsay, who owns Orange Beach Weddings, which provides beach ceremonies on Alabama’s coast.

She said she lost about $240,000 in business because of the spill as nervous brides-to-be canceled their weddings all summer long and even into the remainder of the year. So far, she has only received about $29,000 in BP compensation.

“I’m scared that BP is going to pull out and leave us hanging with nothing,’’ Lindsay said.

The well spewed 206 million gallons of oil until the gusher was first stopped in mid-July with a temporary cap.

That is the settled on number between BP, government and MSM for liability purposes.

Mud and cement were later pushed down through the top of the well, allowing the cap to be removed.

Didn't they try that at first?

But officials will not declare it dead until it is killed from the bottom.

Even aboard the Development Driller III — the ship that drilled the relief well and allowed crews to pump in the cement for the plug — celebrations were muted.

“It’s kind of bittersweet because we lost 11 men out here,’’ said Rich Robson, the offshore installation manager on the DDIII vessel.

Oh, yeah, it is a MURDER as well as an environmental war crime.

"After pressure test, government pronounces BP oil well dead; But helplessness remains along the Gulf Coast" by Allen G. Breed, Associated Press | September 20, 2010

NEW ORLEANS — For those most directly affected by the spill — the ones who still await BP checks for lost wages and revenues, who live on beaches where oil mats are just now coming ashore — the feeling of helplessness remains.

“If you had to live with all the uncertainty, for all those months,’’ said Mike Helmer, a fishing guide in Lafitte, La. “I can promise you it’s not easy. And it’s not over.’’

BP’s internal investigation, released earlier this month, pointed blame in many directions. It accused subcontractor Halliburton of improperly cementing the well. It blamed rig owner Transocean Ltd. for problems with the blowout preventer on the sea floor a mile down.

See: Louisiana Looks to Alaska on Oil Spill

It even pointed at itself, acknowledging that if the results of a critical pressure test had been correctly interpreted, workers would have known something was horribly wrong in time to do something about it.

Why should we believe them when they are blaming the workers?

BP was TOLD there was trouble and said GO AHEAD ANYWAY!

They obviously think we all have mush out here for brains, and it is damn offensive!

While the company’s report went a long way toward previewing its legal strategy and explaining how explosive gas made a 3-mile-plus journey from the bottom of the well to the drilling rig, it left questions unanswered.

Oh, THAT is what the REPORT was, huh?

An A$$-COVERING EXERCI$E, if you know what I mean!

The same as something the GOVERNMENT might put out!

Those questions will be addressed by government investigators, other companies’ investigations, congressional committees, and by examinations of key pieces of evidence.

Yeah, right. Government will get to the bottom of it. They ARE at the bottom of it!!

Some of those probes are looking specifically at factors BP downplayed — including the company’s well design.

Which they were TOLD ABOUT and IGNORED!

They wanted to DO IT on the CHEAP!

The conclusions will help determine who is liable and what share of the blame — and of the bill — the companies with ties to the rig and its equipment will be responsible for....

In other words, they all get behind closed doors and decide what the cover story will be and how much it will cost without destroying BP.

It's okay if your life is destroyed, citizen. You are not a corporation, and thus can not contribute thousnds in campaign cash.
