Boston Globe Rings Economic Recovery Bell

After we weathered the recession better than most and have been in recovery for five quarters (so the lying, agenda-pu$hing media tells us)?

If that's us then the rest of the country has to have been devastated.

"Requests soaring from families in need; Agencies call demand unparalleled" by Peter Schworm, Globe Staff / November 17, 2010

From suburban church pantries to inner-city shelters, charities across the state are fielding a record number of appeals from struggling families for food, winter clothes, heating assistance, and other basic needs.

Meanwhile, bankers are making record profits.

Charities and nonprofit groups that tend to the poor are experiencing unprecedented demand as the holiday season approaches and the nation’s severe economic troubles stretch into a third year....

Then there HS BEEN NO RECOVERY, America!

Your CORPORATE MEDIA is LYING TO YOU AGAIN!

When TRUTH OUTS and HISTORY DULY RECORDS this period it shall be known as the GRAND DEPRESSION and the END of the AmeriKan Empire (after the WWIII the USraeli war-planners are trying so desperately to begin).

Today, as the Salvation Army kicks off its annual drive to raise money for Christmas gifts and meals for the needy, organizers say the years of lost homes, lost jobs, and falling wages have pushed many low-income families to despair.

But hey, BANKERS are DOING GREAT so BUCK UP, 'murka!!

Btw, I will be PUTTING my COINS in the KETTLE like I do EVERY YEAR -- and maybe a few more since I'm slaving away these days.

“They are no longer in a position where they can pay all their bills,’’ said Deborah Rambo, president of Catholic Charities of Boston, which has seen a 30 percent increase in requests at its area food pantries. “They’ve been out of work. They’ve gone through their savings. They can’t just make it anymore.’’

But BRIGHTEN UP!  Banks are making record profits, corporations are doing quite well, the wars and war-profiteers are fully-funded, and the political class has its taxpayer-funded perks, pensions, and health plans.  What more could ye ask fer, 'murkn?

Ellen Parker, who directs Project Bread, said the economy has thrown thousands of secure families into poverty. She pointed out that the percentage of Massachusetts children living in poverty has climbed from 10 percent in 2007 to 13 percent last year.

Just wanted you to know where that increased tax take is going, dear readers and fellow citizens.

Yes, the great liberal fascist state that is so compassionate and cares so much about kids.

In certain pockets of the state, poverty has deepened severely, she said, and a growing number of families are skipping or shrinking meals to save money

Yes, WELCOME to MY PART of the WORLD, readers.

Yup, KNOW ALL ABOUT the ONE-MEAL-a-DAY bit (as the stomach growls again)!

But hey, the ELITE BUFFETS are still a SIGHT to BEHOLD so BE HAPPY!

“This really represents extraordinary pain in low-income communities,’’ Parker said, citing child poverty rates as high as 44 percent in Springfield. “I think it’s a public health crisis.’’

And some people are not hurting at all.

And don't blame me.  United Way gets their $2 from my slavecheck every week.

"Gifts fall short of prerecession totals" by Erin Ailworth, Globe Staff / November 17, 2010

Charitable giving is up slightly this year, thanks to an improving economy and aggressive fund-raising, but overall donations are still far below prerecession levels, according to Boston-area nonprofit organizations.

They ain't never coming back. That is what happens when you hollow out good people and the middle class so banksters can wallow in wads of loot.

But fund-raising remains a challenge for numerous nonprofits, and many said it will take time for people to be as generous as they were before the recession....

As if the Grand Depression were really over.

What Bank of America Bought With Your Bailout

Yeah, some do not seem to be having a problem at all.

Keeping it just like Wall Street kept their taxpayer-funded charity.

Some charities reported that donations continued to slip this year.

But?

Fund-raisers at the Salvation Army of Massachusetts said that, across the country, collections were down 8 percent last year. The organization, which collects about 40 percent of its income from gifts made in November and December, expects to kick off its annual Red Kettle campaign today.

They will get my some of my coins.

Even in this challenging economy, one nonprofit arts institution has tripled donations from three years ago:

I'd say more than one.

Just wondering where the American people's bailout is.

"A BIG BREAKTHROUGH -- A Swiss engineer stood in front of a giant drill machine after it broke through rock to complete the final section of the world's longest tunnel yesterday. Television stations across Europe showed the moment live. The 34.5-mile Gotthard Base Tunnel will be used by trains to take passagners across the Alps. It is not expected to be operational until the end of 2017 (Boston Globe October 16 2010)."

How do you think they cut through rock?

Let's hope it works out better than the Chunnel, although I do see a disaster film in the near future.
