Oh, Canada!

What my newspaper has been giving me about our neighbors up north:

"Colonel Russell Williams was the commander of Canada's largest Air Force base until he was charged this year in the killings of two women, the sexual assault of two others, and 82 break-ins, during which he stole women's panties....

The case shocked the country, hurt soldiers' moral, and prompted fears that the commander of Canada's most high-profile military post could have been a serial killer

Could have been?

He's a serial sicko in any event.

Actually, he did more than steal them:

"A commander who was a rising star in Canada's military pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering two women, sexually assaulting two others, and breaking into the bedrooms of dozens of girls as young as 11 and stealing their underwear....

Prosecutors said Williams targeted girls and women in their teens and 20s and often photographed himself in their underwear. Prosecutors also said Williams videotaped the assaults and murders.

Williams had a promising future with the military. The square-jawed officer was photographed in January with Defense Minister Peter MacKay and Canada's top general during an inspection of a Canadian aircraft on its way to support relief efforts in Haiti....

Yeah, poor guy!

"Wiliams was a rising star in the military before he was charged earlier this year. The charges have shocked Canadians and shaken the military to its core.

Looks like the Canadians can't catch anyone:

"A young Asian man who boarded an Air Canada flight in Hong Kong elaborately disguised as an elderly white male is seeking refugee status in Canada in what border officials are calling an "unbelievable case of concealment."

Or something.

An internal intelligence alert from the Canadian Border Service shows before-and-after photos and describes how the man boarded the flight in Hong Kong on Oct. 29 wearing a remarkable silicone mask to make him look like an elderly white man.

Would this fool you, readers?

Just give us cheap power, will ya?

"Hydropower is inexpensive, making it attractive in Massachusetts, a state with some of the nation's highest electricity rates, but there debate over whether it should be eligible for state financial incentives awarded to renewable energy projects....

Few environmentalists wholeheartedly embrace hydropower, but many say it has become necessary to reexamine the water-based  power source because of the threat of climate change caused by humans and the lack of progress toward reducing the use of fossil fuels.  Still, many questions are unanswered....

And you will not be finding answers here

Update:

"UK agrees to settle with ex-Guantanamo detainees" by PAISLEY DODDS

Canadian-Syrian engineer Maher Arar received an apology and $10 million in compensation from the Canadian government after he was caught up in the "extraordinary rendition" of terrorist suspects.

A nice stain on your honor, Canada.

Arar says he was mistaken for a terrorist when he was changing planes in New York on his way home to Canada, a year after the 2001 terrorist attacks. He was sent to Syria, where he claims he was tortured.

A Canadian inquiry cleared him of involvement in terrorism and concluded he had been tortured. But in June the U.S. Supreme Court quashed his bid to sue U.S. authorities over his treatment....

Hey, it's a fascist country now.
