Can You See the Clouds in Haiti?

You wouldn't have were you relying on the Boston Globe web version:

"DOWNPOUR SPURS FLOODING IN HAITI -- Heavy rains swelled a canal about 40 miles south of Port-au-Prince earlier this week, causing it to overflow its banks and flood streets in the seaside town of Leogane (Boston Globe February 17 2011)."

"Haiti issues new passport for exiled president Aristide" by David McFadden, Associated Press / February 9, 2011

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti —  Ousted president Jean-Bertrand Aristide, a former priest and Haiti’s first democratically elected president, was ousted in a violent rebellion in 2004 and left the country aboard a US plane

Under threat of gunpoint.

Despite his long exile, he remains popular among many back home as a champion of the poor....

Don't you just love the agenda-pushing AmeriKan media's obfuscation of the COUPS?

Aristide’s return has been a principal demand of his Fanmi Lavalas party, which electoral officials have barred from participating in recent elections.

That's the kind of "democracy" AmeriKa is supporting down there?  Sigh.

The decision by President Rene Preval’s government to grant the passport is a substantial reversal. Washington has warned that any return by Aristide would destabilize Haiti....

Why didn't they give the same advice to Baby Doc?

"Haiti’s president extends term by 3 months" by Associated Press / February 8, 2011

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — The United States and other nations have signaled they agree with President Rene Preval staying in office for a few months to avoid a power vacuum atop Haiti, where foreign governments have collectively spent billions on recovery efforts after last year’s devastating earthquake and pledged billions more for reconstruction.

Then why is the place still in shambles after a YEAR!!!?

Preval is unpopular after years of continued poverty and following his perceived inaction in response to the earthquake....

Yes, I saw NO MENTION of the CONTINUING CHOLERA CRISIS in this current crop of crap from the corporate media.  Must be because the U.N. told 'em not to talk about it.

For a paper that professes to care so much for the Haitians the silent censorship is staggering.
