Ireland Fit For a Queen

"Queen Elizabeth to visit Bloody Sunday site" April 08, 2011|Associated Press

DUBLIN — Queen Elizabeth II will visit Dublin’s famed Guinness brewery and the scene of the original Bloody Sunday massacre during a long-awaited May visit to Ireland designed to demonstrate modern-day reconciliation between Britain and its rebellious former possession.

Buckingham Palace and Ireland’s president, Mary McAleese, jointly unveiled plans for the May 17-20 visit after more than a decade of speculation about its timing. It will be the first trip by a British monarch since 1911, a decade before Ireland won independence from Britain after a guerrilla war.

Why must that always be the way (except for Gandhi)?

The trip will focus on Dublin but span the Republic of Ireland, including Cork, known as the “rebel county’’ because of its role as the epicenter of rebellion against British rule 90 years ago.

The visit is expected to come just days before a one-day trip to Ireland by President Obama. Ireland’s national police force has canceled all vacation leave in the second half of May to cope with the security demands....

And what is that going to cost tapped-out Irish taxpayers?

On Nov. 21, 1920, the most infamous day of Ireland’s war of independence — Bloody Sunday — reached its nightmare climax.

An Irish Republican Army assassination squad commanded by Michael Collins had killed 14 British agents that morning. Britain responded by sending troops and police into Croke Park....

British forces shot and killed 14 people....

A second British Army mass killing — of 13 Catholic demonstrators in the Northern Ireland city of Londonderry in 1972 — also become known as Bloody Sunday....

Yup, with British-inspired false flags for framing and everything.

Speaking of which:

"Campaign target of IRA bomb plot

DUBLIN — A 500-pound van bomb defused yesterday near the Irish border probably was destined to strike a town center or landmark building in a bid to undermine Northern Ireland’s election campaign, police and political leaders said. Police Chief Superintendent Alasdair Robinson said the dissident IRA bomb left Thursday night under a freeway overpass was properly constructed but abandoned before it could be detonated. He said it was likely that the attackers stopped short of their intended target because of a police checkpoint."

How do we know it was really them and not MI6 planting and parking the thing?

Think I'm trusting authorities and the mouthpiece media anymore?

And about those bailed-out banks:

"Allied Irish Banks PLC, the country’s biggest government-controlled lender, will eliminate more than 2,000 jobs after posting a record net loss of $15 billion as real estate loans soured....

The bailout costs just went up again.

I thought the Irish had a reputation for temper.  Why are they not out in the streets?
