Israeli Peace Proposal Falls on Deaf Ears

That is what the Boston Globe is falling on around here these days.

"Influential Israelis offer peace proposal" April 06, 2011|By Matti Friedman, Associated Press

The Israeli group includes former heads of the Shin Bet and Mossad security services and the military, as well as one of Israel’s wealthiest businessmen, shipping tycoon Idan Ofer....

Translation: it is the Zionist plan.

The initiative, summarized in a two-page document, offered few new ideas. Instead, it essentially endorsed peace plans offered by previous governments in an apparent effort to prod the current one into doing the same....

Why would one listen to such slop?

"EDITORIAL | A NEW PEACE PLAN | Globe Editorial

Really, readers, what more is there to say?

In Israel, cooler heads weigh in

Mine is getting hot.

AS ARAB governments fall and totter around Israel, and as more and more countries indicate they will vote for recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September, a group of prominent Israelis has come to the clear-eyed conclusion that the status quo is untenable and dangerous for Israel.

Oh, THAT is what is behind the SUDDEN PUSH for PEACE by the Zionist war criminals!

These aren’t unworldly peaceniks; the group includes former heads of Israel’s intelligence agency, secret service, and military. Their Israeli Peace Initiative reflects a desire to keep their country safe and preserve it as a democratic, Jewish-majority state....

Ask any Arab how democratic the supremacist apartheid state is.

While the terms hew closely to those bruited about in earlier peace talks, what distinguishes the new initiative is that it’s framed as a counteroffer to the peace initiative put forth by the Arab League....

Oh, that's what the "NEW" IS:  a RE-WRAPPED and RE-FRAMED PoS, and here the Globe is crowing about it!

When President Obama receives Netanyahu next month in Washington, he should ask him if he really thinks Israel’s long-term interests are best served by maintaining a defensive crouch....

Then please explain all the dead Palestinians and settlement expansions.

Un-f***ing-believable.

"Israel considers annexing enclaves on the West Bank; Move is response to Palestinians’ recognition push" March 30, 2011|By Amy Teibel, Associated Press

NOTHING NEW THERE!

JERUSALEM — Israel is considering annexing major West Bank settlement blocs if the Palestinians unilaterally seek world recognition of a state, an Israeli official said yesterday — moves that would deal a grave blow to prospects for negotiating a peace deal between the two sides.

And how exactly was the hypocritical and stinking stain of a war criminal state founded?

Israel has refrained from taking such a diplomatically explosive step for four decades.

Yeah, they have just done it on the ground without the formality.

The fact that it is considering doing so reflects how seriously it is concerned by the Palestinian campaign to win international recognition of a state in the absence of peacemaking.

The Palestinians launched that campaign after peace talks foundered over Israeli construction in West Bank settlements. Yesterday, the Israeli Interior Ministry said it would decide next month whether to give final approval to build 1,500 apartments in two Jewish enclaves in east Jerusalem. Israel captured both east Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan in 1967.

Israel annexed east Jerusalem, home to shrines sacred to Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, immediately after seizing it. But it carefully avoided annexing the West Bank, where 300,000 settlers now live among 2.5 million Palestinians.

Although it is widely assumed that under any peace deal, Israel would hold onto major settlements it has built in the past 44 years, any decision to formally annex West Bank territory would be a precedent-setting move that could increase Israel’s already considerable international isolation....

What, what, what?  The lovely state of Israel isolated?  How could that be?

Of course, the more peace is delayed the more settlement expansion Israel will keep.

The government official who disclosed the possible annexation said that other options were also being considered.

These could include limiting water supplies beyond agreed-upon amounts and restricting Palestinian use of Israeli ports for business purposes, he said....

That is ALREADY HAPPENING and part of ISRAELI STATE POLICY!

And we may be deaf, but we can STILL  SMELL SHIT!!!!

In a related development, the Israeli Transportation Ministry is working on a plan to build an island off the coast of Gaza, where a Palestinian-run airport and seaport would be located. Ministry spokesman Ilan Leizerovich said this would allow Israel to cut all ties with Hamas-ruled Gaza.

At present most goods and people enter and exit Gaza through Israeli land crossings.

Leizerovich said the island would be built about three miles off the Gaza coast and would be connected by a bridge. He said it would take about six years and cost more than $5 billion to build.

Yeah, right, Israel is going to shell that out for Palestinian independence.

If you believe that one I have a bridge in New York I would like to sell you.

The grandiose scheme would need additional government approval, Palestinian acceptance, and funding....

Just something the arrogant Zionist a**holes of Israel threw out there because they think the rest of the planet is f***ing stupid and this will fool them.

So WHEN does the SIEGE and OCCUPATION END?

"Israel to keep presence along Jordan; Position could hinder progress with Palestinians" March 09, 2011|Isabel Kershner, New York Times

JERUSALEM — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared definitively yesterday that he would maintain an Israeli military presence along the Jordan River under any future arrangement involving the Palestinians, buttressing a known policy with a demonstrative visit to that area of the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Yes, ONLY PALESTINIANS can not have PRECONDITIONS!

Netanyahu said the Israeli military presence east of any future Palestinian state was all the more necessary, given the tumult rocking the Middle East. The visit came as Israeli officials were floating the idea of a peace initiative for an interim arrangement toward a two-state solution, instead of the previously stated goal of a final accord on Palestinian statehood by fall.

The Israeli statements of intent, rejected by the Palestinians, were likely to further stymie any progress between the sides....

What progress?

Netanyahu, referring to the upheaval in the Arab world as “a political and security earthquake which we have not seen the end of,’’ said, “In this situation, more than ever, we need to ensure that we have solid security foundations upon which to defend the state of Israel.’’

“Our security border is here, on the Jordan River,’’ he continued, “and our line of defense is here.’’

He warned if this line were broken, the Israeli heartland would become vulnerable to the infiltration of terrorists, missiles, and rockets....

What did he say?  I wasn't listening.

In an interview published in The Wall Street Journal yesterday, Israel’s defense minister, Ehud Barak, said Israel might seek extra security assistance from the United States of up to $20 billion, but could not seek pledges of aid without making a “daring’’ peace offer.

Oh, so this WHOLE THING is an EXTORTION PLOT to GET MORE U.S. TAX DOLLARS!!!

The Palestinians, who want a complete Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank, have repeatedly rejected both a long-term Israeli military presence in the Jordan Valley and the idea of a provisional state.

They are NOT the ONLY ONES!

However, the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, has expressed readiness for the presence of a third party, like a US-led NATO force, on the borders of a future Palestinian state.

Given the experiences in Afghanistan and Libya that is probably not a good idea.

Or are they going to PROTECT PALESTINIANS from ISRAELI ASSAULT?

Abbas commented over the weekend on the reports of a possible Israeli offer.

At a news conference in the West Bank city of Ramallah, he said, “We know that there was an idea in the past that called for a state with provisional borders, and if this idea is proposed again, we will not accept it.’’

Which is exactly where Irsael wanted the peace talk going: nowhere.

Now give us the money, U.S. taxpayers.
