Western Support of Israel Pushes Palestinians Together

Have you been noticing that everything Israel and the United States have been doing lately turns to shit?

"Mahmoud Abbas has given up on reaching peace with Israel and will instead seek internal reconciliation at the risk of jeopardizing relations with the West"

"Palestinian leader reaches out to Hamas" February 21, 2011|Associated Press

JENIN, West Bank — The Palestinian prime minister appealed yesterday to the rival Hamas group to join him in a united government, offering to allow the Islamic militants to retain security control of the Gaza Strip until elections later this year....

As if he had a choice.

Any partnership with the anti-Israel Hamas would likely draw international criticism and all but rule out hopes of reviving negotiations. The United States, European Union, and Israel shun Hamas as a terror organization.

But with peace talks stalled for nearly four months and few hopes for getting them back on track, Fayyad’s Western-backed government in the West Bank is now turning its focus to internal politics.

The Palestinian areas have been divided between two rival governments since Hamas violently seized control of Gaza nearly four years ago....

That's a SEIZURE, huh?

Thanks again for the REPEATED OMISSIONS and LIES, AmeriKan media.

Thus they are NOT TO BE BELIEVED on any matter -- especially ALL THINGS ISRAEL!!!

Btw, Hamas foiled a COUP ATTEMPT!!!!   I noticed they left that out, too.

When do the lies stop?

"Abbas pledges to talk unity with Hamas" March 17, 2011|Associated Press

Mahmoud Abbas’s gesture to Hamas suggests he has given up on reaching peace with Israel and will instead seek internal reconciliation at the risk of jeopardizing relations with the West....

Abbas has not visited Gaza since Hamas expelled his forces in a five-day civil war in 2007. Since then, his Western-backed Palestinian Authority has ruled only the West Bank.

Even with the best of intentions, it will be difficult for the sides to overcome their vast differences. Past reconciliation efforts have failed, with neither side eager to relinquish the power it has, and the bad blood from their 2007 violence remains.

And just who would want to keep them apart?

I suppose serving USrael at the expense of their people did not help.

Following parallel rallies in Gaza and the West Bank urging the rival Palestinian leaderships to reunite, Gaza’s Hamas prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, invited Abbas to come try to mend ties. With peace talks with Israel at a standstill and prodemocracy uprisings taking place across the Middle East, Abbas complied....

And then the ROCKETS from GAZA started!

Despite the Hamas welcome to Abbas, its police forces lunged into a crowd of activists yesterday and beat them with sticks. The previous day, Hamas police beat demonstrators, punched reporters, and seized cellphones.

The Israelis write that for you?

And about treating reporters badly:

"Group says Palestinian forces abuse journalists" April 07, 2011|By Daniel Estrin, Associated Press

JERUSALEM — A leading human rights group yesterday criticized Palestinian security forces in the West Bank and Gaza Strip for what it said was an increase in attacks on local journalists, including arbitrary detentions and abuse.

A report by the New York-based Human Rights Watch said that over the past two years, the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank has stepped up harassment of journalists investigating corruption or those seen to be supporters of the rival Hamas militant group. The pressure tactics by the Western-backed government have led to self-censorship among local reporters, the group also said.

Just like AmeriKan papers.

The report focused on the West Bank, documenting seven cases of abuse there. It also included two cases in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, where reported abuses against journalists by Hamas have been less frequent but nevertheless harsh, according to the group. It said abuses by Hamas and Israeli forces would be the focus of future reporting.

I now distrust all human rights groups that make the AmeriKan mouthpiece.

The group urged international donors to demand that the Palestinian Authority — which receives hundreds of millions of dollars in Western support each year — stop the practice as a condition for receiving aid....

Interesting time to come out with a report, 'eh?

Just as Palestinians are uniting the West is going to cut off the money!

Hard to stay unified when one is an agent of USrael.

And ONCE AGAIN the AmeriKan media shows it KNOWS the TRUTH -- and yet still it pushes the "seizes" line.

"Palestinians to seek UN statehood approval in September; Abbas says he will take petition to General Assembly" by Nayla Razzouk, Bloomberg News / April 19, 2011

AMMAN, Jordan — The Palestinians will seek the recognition of the United Nations for an independent state in September, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said yesterday.

While UN Security Council permission for a Palestinian state might be blocked by veto-wielding permanent members such as the United States, approval by the UN General Assembly would be legally binding, Abbas said in an interview with Al Arabiya television....

Because Israel told us to.

Israel still might try to block recognition by lobbying the US Congress, he said.

WTF does this have to do with the U.S. Congress?

Abbas said that Salam Fayyad, Palestinian Authority prime minister, will form a new Cabinet within 10 days. The previous government resigned Feb. 14 following anti-government street protests inspired by pro-democracy demonstrations across the Middle East.

Abbas, whose administration rules in the West Bank, said he was ready to travel to the Gaza Strip for reconciliation talks with the Islamic Hamas movement that controls the enclave.

Presidential and legislative elections, which the Palestinian Authority has vowed to hold by September, cannot be held without the participation of Hamas, he said....

Fayyad started a project in August to strengthen government institutions such as the security forces and the tax-collection authority in preparation for statehood, setting a two-year goal for completion.

The institutions are prepared for statehood and have won a positive reception from international institutions, including the World Bank, Abbas said.

In Washington, President Obama and Netanyahu discussed the Middle East peace process and violence in the Gaza Strip during a telephone conversation yesterday.

Obama also extended best wishes to Netanyahu before the start of Passover. The weeklong holiday began last night with a traditional seder. Obama also was hosting a seder at the White House for the third straight year.

Whatever happened to separation of church and state?

And it makes the rest of ours harder.

In Israel, President Shimon Peres marked the day by visiting the parents of captive soldier Gilad Schalit in their protest tent outside the prime minister’s official residence in Jerusalem.

“I am convinced we will see Gilad return home alive,’’ Peres told the family. “It pains me and it pains every person in Israel that Gilad is still not with us.’’

Yes, Jewish lives are much more important than any others.
