Bruin Goalie Blocks Obama

And he is being sent to the penalty box?

"Disillusioned with politics, Thomas skips White House

WASHINGTON - Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas skipped a White House ceremony with President Obama yesterday to honor his championship team, saying his absence was an expression of his unhappiness with Washington as a whole and not a snub of the president.

“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People,’’ Thomas, only one of two Americans on the Stanley Cup team, said in a statement. “This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country.’’

Thomas, the Stanley Cup MVP who played at the University of Vermont, is an avowed conservative and talk radio enthusiast who has previously criticized Obama’s policies. He was among the players Obama singled out for praise during the ceremony in at the White House.
