Mother Furious Over Ferreira Shooting

"Cape murder victim had witnessed prior shooting, mother says; Unclear if case is linked to slaying" by Travis Andersen Globe Staff  September 21, 2015

A 28-year-old woman whose body was found with gunshot and stab wounds at a rest area in Barnstable on Saturday morning had witnessed a prior shooting in Hyannis, her grief-stricken mother said Monday.

Through tears, the mother of Christine Ferreira of Hyannis, whose body was discovered at a rest stop eastbound on Route 6 between exits 6 and 7, said her daughter witnessed a shooting about 10 years ago.

It was not clear to which prior case Germana Ferreira referred, if the victim of that shooting had died, or if it was connected in any way to Christine Ferreira’s killing. Germana Ferreira said she does not know who may have wanted to harm her daughter.

“Somebody very angry did this,” she said. “There are some angry, mean people out there. . . . That’s all I can say. I don’t know nothing.”

Asked if Christine Ferreira testified in court in the prior shooting case, her mother, also of Hyannis, said in a telephone interview, “I guess she did. She was scared but she did.” She said investigators in the earlier shooting told her daughter that she could face arrest if she was not truthful.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe, whose office is investigating Christine Ferreira’s death, declined to say whether she had testified in a prior shooting or comment generally on the investigation, except to say that it remains “very active.”

Christine Ferreira struggled with drug addiction and had planned to enter a rehab facility on Monday, according to her mother.

“I know she had problems with drugs,” Germana Ferreira said. “She got involved with bad friends.”

She said she hopes authorities bring her daughter’s killer to justice.

I wouldn't hold my breath, even if they "catch" someone.

“Nobody should take somebody else’s life,” she said. “She was a beautiful, good-hearted person. She had a good heart, and she had this problem with drugs. She was a beautiful human being. She was a very beautiful dear . . . sweet as can be.”

As are all souls (save for the elite $cum ruining this planet for the rest of us).
