Five adults were arraigned on assault, weapons, and other charges following an alcohol-fueled weekend melee at the Chuck E. Cheese’s in Everett.

An officer patrolling the shopping center that houses the restaurant and an officer working a detail nearby were made aware of adults consuming alcoholic beverages illegally, police said.

CEC Entertainment Inc., the chain’s Texas-based owner, issued a statement Tuesday condemning the altercation

“The issue was caused by a guest who procured and consumed alcohol outside our premises, as we do not serve alcohol at this location,” the statement read, in part. “We are deeply disappointed by the choices and actions of the involved parties and want to assure parents and caregivers that we take great measures to protect the experience children and families have in our restaurants.”

The five individuals, who live in Boston, Chelsea and Lynn, appeared in Malden District Court Monday, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office.

One man allegedly became belligerent when police arrived. He allegedly incited others, who became angry, and started to punch and kick officers, according to the police.

The officers called for assistance from state, Everett, and Medford police.

“It’s extremely disappointing to see adults behave in this manner in an establishment that is designed for young family fun,” Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie said in a statement.

“I’m thankful that our officers were able to restore order in a quick manner and were able to hold those responsible for the disturbance accountable for their actions.”
